Actual dimensions and fit
Plusco's standard 20x20x4 filter measures 19.5 x 19.5 x 3.75 inches. Width and height are half an inch under nominal; depth is a quarter inch under. Custom orders are cut to the exact size you enter.
The 20x20 face size is square, so the filter installs in either orientation as long as the airflow arrow on the frame points toward the blower. This page covers the 4-inch version with an actual depth of 3.75 inches; the same face size is also stocked in 1-inch and 2-inch depths.
Measuring before you order
A nominal 4-inch filter from another manufacturer may have different actual dimensions. Measure your old filter and check the cabinet's requirements. A deeper filter must not be bent, crushed or forced into a shallow slot. For change frequency and compatibility, follow your HVAC equipment manual or ask your technician.
Choosing the rating
Depth and MERV rating are different choices. Match the depth to the cabinet and the rating to your system's requirements. Read the MERV guide and consult your HVAC technician before changing ratings if compatibility is unclear.
